With a diet plan like this, using liquids to only take in around eight hundred calories a day so you can lose a lot of weight, you do have limitations. One major drawback to this type of diet is that your body is not designed for that kind of weight loss, so you can only stay on such a diet for a short period of time. As an alternative to the meal substitute style of liquid weight loss diet plans, there is the diuretic weight loss drink. Diuretics essentially cleanse your body of any excess water you have stored away. By releasing the extra water in your body, you will lose weight quickly, however you will not lose any fat or harmful molecules you would otherwise lose by eating smaller meals and exercising regularly. Again, this is not a long term solution, as the weight generally comes back quickly and you cannot be on a diuretic for long periods without side effects to the body's organs. Ultimately, the choice between a solid food diet and a liquid diet boils down to how long you wish to stay on a diet and what type of diet best fits your lifestyle so you can best follow the diet each day for maximum results. It is up to you to decide whether a liquid weight loss diet will fit your situation and the time you plan to stay on the diet plan.
